with the Vancouver Vertical Orchestra
In Situ is inspired by physical expression, engagement with the environment, and societal contrasts — themes that permeate Vancouver's cultural landscape and shape urban life on the West Coast.
In Situ starts indoors and unfolds in the seven-story concourse of Vancouver’s Central Library, setting the scene for dynamic interaction between the dancers, musicians and Moshe Safdie's striking architectural design. Artists from Aeriosa and the Vertical Orchestra (Redshift Music Society) work three-dimensionally, presenting suspended spectacular dance and original spatial music throughout the venue at various heights. The audience will be encouraged to flow through the building, led by the artists and guides who will interact with them along the way, eventually ending outdoors in the serene grandeur of Library Square.
more...Aeriosa has commissioned an outstanding team of diverse artists under the direction of artistic director Julia Taffe to create a full-length interdisciplinary site-specific work: choreographer Amelia Rudolph, founding artistic director of the internationally renowned vertical dance company Project Bandaloop, and BC composers Jocelyn Morlock and Jordan Nobles.
Aeriosa is managed by New Works.

Here at New Works we're planning a summer filled with love, music, dance...and a wedding!
In partnership with South Asian Arts and the Pacific National Exhibition, New Works presents Bollywood Wedding, an outdoor, interactive opportunity for the audience to experience traditional Indian wedding customs, in the form of a wild and hilarious event, bringing the whole dysfunctional family together for an evening of fun and melodrama.

Note to Audience: Bollywood Wedding is an outdoor, site-specific dance performance that requires the audience to have at least a moderate level of physical fitness. The audience will be walking for most of the performance, on both urban and rural terrains. The audience is advised to wear comfortable, supportive footwear and dress appropriately for Vancouver weather. The performance runs rain or shine.
