Season 2024 - 2025
Prism - Tentacle Tribe (Montréal)
A quintet of dancers move between a reflective floor and movable mirror panels that they can manipulate from different angles. Kaleidoscopically multiplied tenfold, their bodies seamlessly unite and intermingle, in synergy with Höglund’s music. Prism opens up a myriad of possibilities, distorting perspec- tives and deconstructing movement into infinite combinations of colourful images. A dreamlike journey with a truly hypnotic effect.

Season 2023 - 2024
Cross-Pollination
Sharing Practice in Integrated Dance and Disability Arts. Exciting creative cross pollination begins this spring between Vancouver’s All Bodies Dance Project, dance artist Adam Grant Warren, and Ottawa’s Propeller Dance, as they begin a three-month creative exchange to share knowledge in dance-making and facilitation in integrated dance and disability arts.
Family Room - The Falling Company
Family Room is a poignant dance theatre piece choreographed by Marissa Wong which explores immigrant life and cultural identity – and the complexities of her Chinese-Canadian upbringing and navigating her parents' divorce. The innovative set design transforms the stage into a living room, each piece of furniture symbolizing familial connection and a foundation for interactions told through movement and text.
OSMOSi: 422 Unprocessable Entity - Nancy Lee
This interdisciplinary work weaves together movement, projection, spatial sound composition and interactive costuming to build an immersive world where the ground is constantly shifting beneath your feet. Reflecting on the religion of workism and precarity of gig economy labour, we are confronted by the everyday within the unexpected, swirling landscape of OSMOSi: 422 Unprocessable Entity.
Modus Operandi - Works in Development
New Works presented the Modus Operandi dancers in a special presentation of works in development. We witnessed these young artists on stage in a mixed program of works by celebrated choreographers Tiffany Tregarthen, David Raymond and Yue Yin.
Deciphers - Naishi Wang & Jean Abreu
Choreographers Naishi Wang and Jean Abreu came together in a new international collaboration exploring UK/Canada and Brazil/China cultural references related to poetry and vocal traditions of folk music. This cultural exchange creates a powerful physical journey and performance that demonstrates how the body can be used as an extraordinary tool for linguistic expression.
Zahak, The Serpent King - The Biting School
Zahak was a prince who made a pact with the devil and killed his own father. The devil kissed him on the shoulders and there grew two snakes. The two snakes gave him so much pain and fear; but every time he cut them off, they would grow again. He is told there’s only one way he can calm them down, and that is to kill two young men every day and feed their brains to the snakes.
